Urban Connections is an intensive program, offering a career one-stop, a wealth of resources and workshops, and advanced career training courses in green construction, healthcare, hospitality, computer coding, and cannabis – focusing on equity inside this expanding industry. Urban Connections provides a variety of services: outreach and recruitment, assessment, career planning, job readiness training, access to job training in industries targeted for sustained growth, access to educational opportunities, case management to address barriers to employment, job placement, job coaching and follow-up. We work with employers to assist them with recruitment, pre-screening applicants, running background checks, hosting job fairs and employer spotlights, and providing information on tax credits.
Urban Connections’ goal is to provide Bay Area marginalized community members with coordinated access to an array of workforce development and supportive services to help ensure their successful transition to productive employment. In the 2017-18 fiscal year, we worked with over 300 community members, connecting more than 200 of them to jobs.
