Want a career with a good salary, benefits, and growth potential? Medical facilities are among the largest employers in San Francisco. Luckily, you don’t have to be a doctor, nurse, or EMT to score a well-paying job at a hospital. Medical facilities are always on the lookout for qualified candidates for positions in:
The Western Addition Career Center has regular screenings for some of the preeminent medical facilities in the area, including California Pacific Medical Center. At our most recent CPMC event on September 10th, a hiring representative met one-on-one with a roomful of eager candidates. Those who do well during our Career Center screening usually will be selected to move along in CPMC’s hiring process.
Though some positions may require some experience in a medical setting, you often can get around this by applying for a position in another department that requires little or no medical experience, then transfer to the department you’re interested in after you’ve worked there for a period of time.
And if you are interested in a position requiring medical training, you may want to consider signing up for a course offered by SFs Office of Economic Workforce Development (OEWD) Healthcare Academy. The Healthcare Academy provides free training for SF residents for several medical careers including: medical assistants, CNAs, caregiving, and others. Most courses can be completed in 6-12 months or less. Informational sessions for the Healthcare Academy are held at Career Centers throughout the city including our own Western Addition location.
Though sometimes getting a job at medical facility may take some time and effort, the benefits are usually worth it. Want to learn more about pre-screenings for CPMC and other medical facilities?
