Job Description:
The Assistant Construction Instructor (Plumber) is responsible for supporting the lead instructor in delivering hands-on plumbing training to prepare participants for entry-level roles in the construction industry. The role involves administering the MC3 curriculum and contributing to the construction of a tiny house (or similar project), including electrical, framing, drywall, and green construction concepts like solar, weatherization, and recycling. The ideal candidate serves as a role model and mentor, helping participants build technical skills and personal confidence.
Responsibilities:
Teach participants basic plumbing skills as outlined in the MC3 curriculum
Track attendance, progress, and skill development of trainees
Coordinate individual plans for participants with program staff
Instruct on the proper use and handling of hand and power tools, including safety exams
Maintain and order tools, materials, and supplies
Assist with maintenance of the training site and building
Participate in curriculum planning and weekly team meetings
Attend all required meetings
Supervise job sites where training-related work is performed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the plumbing trade
Vocational teaching credential preferred (or willingness to obtain certification)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Detail-oriented and thorough in work
Ability to operate tools and equipment used in plumbing and construction
Knowledge of safety hazards and safe handling of materials and tools
Professionalism and courteous conduct in community and team interactions
Strong customer service and communication skills

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing
Ability to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
