Position:
Credible Messenger Life Coach (Part-Time) (Non-Exempt)

Shift Type/Workday:
Part-Time

Compensation:
$28.85 – $30.00 per hour (DOE)

Job Description:
Credible Messengers are indigenous natural leaders who share similar life experiences with justice-involved young people. They have successfully overcome their own marginalization, are rooted in the communities of the youth they serve, and have the potential to make a transformative impact on an individual, family, and community level.

Responsibilities:

  • Form trusting relationships and maintain consistent lines of communication with youth
  • Accompany and support youth as they matriculate through their day/evening activities
  • Provide youth with individual transformative mentoring services
  • Facilitate restorative-focused group and individualized activities, both independently and in conjunction with designated staff
  • Support and participate in the development of individualized plans for youth
  • Provide life coaching and co-navigation to help execute individualized plans
  • Support youth in accessing services, resources, and opportunities available in the facility
  • Document interactions with youth using designated data collection processes
  • Collaborate with agency leadership/staff to improve facility culture, policies, programs, and practices
  • Participate in relevant staff meetings regarding case conferencing, planning, youth transition processes, and connections to services/resources for youth
  • Support the transition of youth back to the community
  • Complete and submit daily shift reports, including reporting all pertinent details of youth interactions
  • Perform tasks as directed
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Previous experience a plus, but not required
  • Must pass a background check
  • Roots, relationships, and knowledge of the communities of the youth served

  • Patient, empathetic, and committed
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Respect and knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and age groups different from one’s own, with the ability to work effectively with all
  • Commitment to working alongside diverse, economically disadvantaged individuals
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to Success Centers’ mission

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
