Job Description:
The Education Program Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of educational programming within the Early Morning Study Academy (EMSA). Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Coordinator helps identify and enroll participants, builds partnerships with local agencies, supports students with educational counseling, and ensures smooth operations across the Education Team. EMSA supports disconnected youth through credentialed instruction, life skills training, wraparound services, and barrier removal to help them reach educational and career goals.
Responsibilities:

Develop and implement outreach strategies to identify participants

Coordinate logistics and calendars for the Education Team

Build and maintain partnerships with SFUSD, Five Keys Charter, probation departments, public defenders, DCYF, and other stakeholders

Conduct educational counseling for youth and their families

Assist with job readiness and career pathway services

Record case information, complete forms, and gather documentation

Help participants explore career, college, or training options

Provide information about education and post-secondary training programs

Coordinate internal referrals to relevant support services

Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
-
Minimum 3 years of experience in education or program development
-
Ability to build rapport with marginalized youth
-
Cultural competency regarding urban youth culture, race/ethnicity, immigration, homelessness, gender identity, and sexual orientation

Familiarity with public, charter, and community college systems
-
Understanding of support systems including juvenile justice, human services, and mental health

Spanish-speaking skills desirable
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy

Excellent organizational and multitasking ability

Strong understanding of local educational and social service systems

Experience in one-on-one interventions with youth

Teamwork-oriented and dependable
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing
-
Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
