Position:
HR Specialist (Exempt)

Shift Type/Workday:
Hybrid – Virtual & Various Site Locations

Compensation:
$72,000 – $80,000 annually (DOE)

Job Description:
The HR Specialist provides HR support in a one-on-one working relationship and works in a mission-driven, results-oriented, and community-focused environment. The ideal candidate will be organized, communicative, and capable of balancing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. The HR Specialist will independently manage projects from start to finish and handle a broad range of HR tasks with discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle sensitive employee information with discretion

  • Identify and coordinate hiring needs related to vacancies, new positions, and internal transfers

  • Manage the recruitment process: advertising, screening, interviewing, and hiring recommendations

  • Schedule and coordinate new hire orientations

  • Lead/support special projects such as talent assessment, workers’ compensation, outreach, and recruitment

  • Onboard new employees, including registration into the payroll system

  • Support employee integration into the organization

  • Run and analyze HR, payroll, and benefits reports

  • Assist with reviewing and validating employee timecards for payroll

  • Maintain personnel records in compliance with legal and agency standards

  • Update labor law postings at all site locations

  • Maintain accurate employee profiles and HR system documentation

  • Manage staff training portal within the HR system

  • Respond to legal notices from government agencies in a timely manner

  • Assist with drafting agency policies

  • Help produce and revise HR documents (offer letters, job descriptions, training materials, etc.)

  • Create process documentation and step-by-step guides for HR procedures

  • Prioritize and resolve HR-related matters proactively

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field

  • 3–4 years of proven experience in a similar HR role

  • Experience using HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
