On April 21st, the Success Center SF/Western Addition Career Center hosted its first “Ladies Night in the Fillmore.” The event, which attracted women throughout the area, was a collaboration between Success Center SF/Western Addition Career Center and the Western Addition Family Resource Center (WAFRC), which is a part of YMCA San Francisco. In addition to participating in the event, the WAFRC provided staff for an on-site child watch so that women could bring their children with them while they relaxed, interacted with other guests, and enjoyed appetizers from local Fillmore restaurant Sheba Lounge.
Ladies Night in the Fillmore, slated to become a regular event on the Career Center calendar, was moderated by Success Center SF Executive Director Liz Jackson-Simpson. It was created to provide a forum where local women can mix and mingle while discussing topics of interest to them. At the inaugural event, participants brainstormed to generate a list of topics they would be interested in discussing or having workshops on at future ladies night events.
The next Ladies Night is tentatively scheduled to occur sometime in June with an exact date to be determined later. Keep reading our website for more information.
