CHARACTERS:          GREAT WHITEY the Great White Shark, age 17 years

INVINCIBLE the Camouflage Fish, age 26 years

SETTING:                   In the Ocean, in Hawaii, near an island.  There’s starfish, stingrays.  There’s old treasure boxes and bubbles comin’ from the box as it opens and closes.

TIME:                         6:55am.  Summer.

AT RISE:                     GREAT WHITEY is circling in the middle, and INVINCIBLE is sitting/chilling/hiding at the bottom.

INVINCIBLE

Man!  I’m tired of chillin’ at the bottom!

GREAT WHITEY

Man, I thought that was your favorite spot.

INVINCIBLE

It is, but don’t you ever think that you would just want to go anywhere you want, without worrying about anything?

GREAT WHITEY

Maybe!  But what is there to worry about?

INVINCIBLE

You wouldn’t understand me.

GREAT WHITEY

I’m your cousin.  I would understand.  Wa’s up?

INVINCIBLE

Boats, the sky, the sun, you know!

GREAT WHITEY

Stop changing the subject, and quit being smart.

INVINCIBLE

Alright.  Are you ever panicky, Whitey?

GREAT WHITEY

No.  Nothing really fear me.

INVINCIBLE

Why not?  Is it because you’re big and intimidating?

GREAT WHITEY

No, it’s because I have pride in myself.

INVINCIBLE

No, don’t start acting like your Dad.

GREAT WHITEY

(Angry)  I’m not.  And what you gotta bring him up for?

INVINCIBLE

‘Cause you remind me of him.   How is he, by the way?

GREAT WHITEY

Man-o-man, I just can’t stand him no more at this point.

INVINCIBLE

Why not?  What’s going on, man?  He didn’t eat enough seals?

GREAT WHITEY

Nah, man.  It’s just that he keeps on telling me to eat people.

INVINCIBLE

What?  I thought you love to eat people.

GREAT WHITEY

Nah, man.  I’m getting this disease, and I’m starting to feel ashamed of doing that.

INVINCIBLE

A disease!  What’s got into you, dude?

GREAT WHITEY

I’m starting to fight my friends.  When I eat a human, I start to lose control and just fight who ever.  I can’t keep on losing my friends.  Besides, I’m trying to be peaceful.

INVINCIBLE

Oh damn, man.  That sucks.  But do you think you could do it one more time, please?

GREAT WHITEY

What, are you crazy?  Didn’t you just hear our conversation?  What, you got seaweed in your ears?

INVINCIBLE

Man, I heard you, man.  But you gotta hear me out, brah.

GREAT WHITEY

Now what is it?

INVINCIBLE

Do you remember what happened to my father?

GREAT WHITEY

Nah, brah.  What happened?  I can’t recall.

INVINCIBLE

Do you remember when you were ten?

GREAT WHITEY

Yeah, and that’s when I was hunting a lot.

INVINCIBLE

Yeah, well that was the year my father passed away.

GREAT WHITEY

Ooooo, I’m sorry.  I forgot, brah.

INVINCIBLE

Yeah, ‘member them damn jellyfish?

GREAT WHITEY

Yeah, that’s who kill him.  Right, brah.

INVINCIBLE

Yeah, and now they are on their way over here, like literally right now.

GREAT WHITEY

Is that why you telling me to do that one more time?

INVINCIBLE

Exactly.  Come on, brah, just this one time.

GREAT WHITEY

Why?  How is that going to help you?

INVINCIBLE

‘Cause once you kill the human, the water would be dirty, and I could move around.  And you know I can’t move around the clear water, just if that happens, then it’s a wrap.  They’ll find me.

GREAT WHITEY

Man, now you’re pressuring me.  First my Dad, now you.

INVINCIBLE

Hey, brah, you’re not the only one.  My dad died.  I don’t get to see nobody.  I want to be on the top, just like you.  You don’t know how I feel when it’s nighttime.  I be hella lonely.  I sometimes cry, brah.

GREAT WHITEY

I feel where you coming from, brah.  You want to be peaceful, and I want to be peaceful.  But you’re pushing me by eating this person.  I’m taking a risk.  What if I do help you?  If I eat that last person, I might stay crazy and lose it forever.  Don’t you feel worried about what would happen to me?  Do you even care?

INVINCIBLE

Come on, man.  I scratch your back, you scratch my back.

GREAT WHITEY

What if I don’t want to scratch your back?  I feel like you’re being shellfish.

INVINCIBLE

Shellfish!  All them other times I had your back?  When I covered for you from your Dad?  ‘Member I told your father that you did eat that human when you really didn’t?  And had me talking to him while I was in the jellyfish area?  I risked my life just for you.

GREAT WHITEY

Alright, just this one last time.

INVINCIBLE

Thanks.  You won’t regret it.

GREAT WHITEY

I hope not.

(GREAT WHITEY goes to the top and eats one more human.  And that last bite kills him.  He loses himself and goes crazy.  He’s eating boats and people.  While it’s dirty, INVINCIBLE swims to the top and he gets to live large, not worrying about the jellyfish.)

INVINCIBLE

Oh well.  I lost my cousin.  But at least one of us got our peace.  Good luck, brah.

THE END
