On Thursday, October 27th, Success Centers was honored to have the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (DOL ETA) Assistant Secretary Brent Parton and Regional Administrator Annie Leonetti visit our sites! As one of the DOL ETA grantees, we were fortunate to share with Assistant Secretary Parton firsthand the inner workings of how Success Centers’ One Stop utilizes workforce development dollars for the operation of our Career Center, training program, services and interfaces with the community.
Starting at the Career Center, Chief Executive Officer Liz Jackson-Simpson shared a behind the scenes overview of Success Centers. The group heard from a few of the Success Centers partners from Webcor Construction, SF Recreation and Parks Department, San Francisco Housing Development Corporation and the San Francisco Conservation Corps who shared their experiences of partnering with Success Centers.
Next, the group transitioned to the Success Centers’ Education & Employment Training Center (EETC) for a walk through of the classrooms for discussions with program participants, the instructors and the Business Relations Manager. Recent U.S. DOL Youth Build Program graduate Jesus Cendejas shared how the hands-on structured training provided by industry experts staff helped steer his career path forward.
