BLUE I won’t make it without my mom and dad. I won’t make it without my mom and dad.
SCARY What’s up little brother? What’s the matter with you? Why you look like that?
BLUE Scary, we won’t be safe without mom and dad. We are going to die out here.
SCARY Dude calm down. We will be alright Blue. Me and Windy are going out for a walk. Wanna come big head?
BLUE The only place I’m walking is to find dad. If you don’t want to help me then I will go by myself.
SCARY Of course I will Not help you LOL. Who cares about dad and mom.
BLUE You know what, forget you. I’ll go by myself. You being mean because of your little girlfriend.
SCARY Blue, watch your mouth. Don’t you talk about Windy because you mad. I don’t want to help you.
BLUE Why won’t you help me Scary? You are all I got left. I didn’t mean what I said.
SCARY OK Blue. I don’t really care. Take a walk to the lake with us and calm down.
BLUE My mouth is dry like a desert. Like a old raisin in the sun.
(as Blue drinks water he thinks to himself)
My life has been rough like reptile skin and my stomach is empty like a bird’s nest. I been really hungry thinking what to eat. I’ve just been finding bones and dead meat, but that isn’t enough to satisfy my grumpy stomach.
(Blue walks back up to Scary) SCARY What’s the matter with you today? You are all anger.
BLUE I just need your help.
SCARY With what? Finding mom and dad? They have been gone for so long. Why do you want to find them now?
BLUE Dude. How come you can’t just help me? We’re ‘posed to be brothers.
SCARY We are brothers –
BLUE I thought you loved me, Scary.
SCARY I do Blue, but –
BLUE But nothing, Scary. Tell me the Truth. You care bout Windy more than me.
SCARY No Blue.
BLUE What about the time when mom and dad first left us? You told me you will always be here for me. SCARY I am here for you, Blue. But mom and dad didn’t love us, bro. That’s why they left.
BLUE Yes, they do love us Scary –
SCARY How do you know, Blue, huh?
BLUE Yes, they do love us, because if they didn’t they wouldn’t have went off to go look for food for us.
SCARY No, they didn’t go find food. They said that to get away. I want to get out this place, Blue. Windy and I discovered a nice place called the woods.
BLUE And where is that, bro? How do you even know it’s nice if you never really been there?
SCARY I just –
BLUE You just what, know?
SCARY Yes, I just–
BLUE No, no, no! You don’t know, Scary. What if it is worse than where we are now or just as bad?
SCARY It’s not. It’s safe. No bad people trying to hurt others. It’s way better, Blue.
BLUE I don’t care about the woods, OK? I just need help finding dad.
SCARY Forget dad, Blue.
BLUE Whatever, Scary. When they get us, don’t say I didn’t warn you. They are somewhere right now as we speak looking around the jungle for us.
SCARY What are you talking about, Blue? You miss them too much, because now you saying weird things.
BLUE Weird things, huh? How is it weird that some monkeys came up to me today and said leave the jungle or go find your dad because he did something real bad and that’s why he left the jungle.
SCARY Wait, what–
BLUE Yeah. And they said I have 24 hours or they will hurt me if I’m still in the jungle. And that was 14 hours ago which means we only have 10 now.
SCARY We. There is no ‘we’.
BLUE Yes, there is, because they said they will kill whoever is with me.
SCARY They don’t know I was with you.
BLUE Yes they do. Someone told them. And they also know you are my brother and we have the same father.
SCARY WHAT, BLUE? THIS WHOLE TIME YOU KNEW THAT AND YOU ARE JUST NOW TELLING ME?!
BLUE Yes, brother.
SCARY Why? Why you didn’t been say something?
BLUE I thought maybe you would just help me if I didn’t tell you. But then again, I didn’t want to tell you and have you freak out and yell at me. Everything is just so hard.
SCARY So, you are telling me we are in trouble because of dad, Blue?
BLUE Yes, but then again, no, Scary.
SCARY What do you mean, “but then again, No”? We never did nothing to them.
BLUE We never did anything, yes, I agree bro. But that day when there were ‘posed to find food and come back but never did is because they took a lot of food from those monkeys who are looking for us. I know it might sound crazy, but Scary, you know how hard it is to find food out here and their own newborn baby starved to death because they had no food because our dad took it and at that the baby died.
SCARY Oh my god! Oh my god! These monkeys are no joke, Blue. I heard about these monkeys and they are not to be messed with. They will hurt anyone and everyone they can. What about Windy? What about us? What about our lives? What are we going to do? We should just leave with Windy. There is no way we will find dad if those monkeys couldn’t. What makes you think we will have a chance? We should use the time we have and leave and get out of here and go far away.
BLUE No, Scary! I need dad. I want to be a family again. I want to be protected. I want to be loved and just live my life knowing who my parents are. SCARY Okay, Blue. But think about it. What if we go look for them and never find them. Your life and mine will be over. We won’t never be able to have our own kids or even make it to a grown up. If we leave now, we can figure everything else out when we are safe, because we are not safe right now. We only have 9 hours left.
BLUE I understand, but it won’t be a piece of cake to just walk out of here. They are everywhere looking for us right now.
SCARY Yes, they can and might be. But us going deeper into the jungle, won’t make things any better.
BLUE OK, Scary. But if we leave now and go to the woods, you have to promise me you won’t be mean no more. You have to promise me that you will always protect me. You have to promise me that we will be the family I want.
SCARY I promise, Blue. You are my only little brother. I love you a lot. It’s just hard to show it, Blue, because I have to be a man, Blue. But deep down I will do anything to protect you, Blue. Right now, it just our life on the line.
BLUE I love you, too, big brother. (smiles happily) I trust you. I know you are right, Scary. I just want to have that happy brother bond that people wishes to have. I hope the woods is safe like you say and we will live happily ever after. We should go now. Time is ticking.
