EL TIEMPO DE LOS ASTEROIDES

PERSONAJES:
LUNA, LA LUNA (HOMBRE, EL HERMANO MAYOR)
ATMOSFERA, EL AIRE DE LA TIERRA, SU HERMANO MENOR
EL LUGAR: LUNA vive en el espacio, en un lugar despejado. El ve las estrellas que brillan a su alrededor, sabe que una de las estrellas es su mama ANA VELI, pero ella esta lejisimo de el.
LUNA vive en un lugar silencioso.
ATMOSFERA flota, por el dia, por las noches, y por el amencer,flota encima de los bosques, sobre los arboles, encima de las flores, y encima de los valles de los rios. El escucha el cantar de los pajaritos y de los grillos y de todos los animals que estan a su alrededor.
ATMOSFERA vive en un lugar maravilloso.
TIEMPO:
Es Media-Luna. Es durante el mes de mucha actividad de asteroides.
A COMENZAR: LUNA esta solo.
LUNA (muy nervioso)
Oooiii, esos que son?? De donde salieron esos asteroides?? Ya estan cerca de mi. Me van a golpear!!!! Pueden chocar!!! Y si chocan, se van a romper, y el humo de eso me va a contaminar el aire. Y me quedaria sin poder respirar. Me pondria fatal eso!!!!
(todo se pone silencioso de nuevo)
Parece que ya se fueron. Ooof! Que alivio!! Que miedo!!!
Aiy. Yo quiero tener a alguien en este momento. Porque las cosas se estan poniendo duro. Quisiera contarle esto a mi hermanito Atmosfera,
pero lo que pasa es que el esta lejos. Como quisiera que viniera ya. Quiero tenerlo a mi hermanito aqui conmigo porque donde estoy esta muy silencioso.
(LUNA hace mucho esfuerzo y logra llegar a su hermanito con su voz)
HOLA ATMOSFERA! COMO ESTAS HERMANITO?
ATMOSFERA
(a escuchar la voz de Luna)
Oooo! Quien me habla? Que pasa?!?!
LUNA
Soy yo, tu hermano mayor.
ATMOSFERA
OOHH, QUE MILAGRO que te comunicaste conmigo. Yo te extranaba. Te extranaba mucho. Que tal?
LUNA
Fijate, que donde estoy, estoy pasando una crisis verdad, y por eso me estoy comunicando contigo. Este es el mes de muchos asterioides y estan por todos lados. Pasaron muy cerca de mi y casi me golpearon.
ATMOSFERA
Ooh, y porque no te cambies de lugar? Porque no regresas? Aqui donde vivo esta tranquilo, no veo estos asteroides que miras tu alla arriba.
LUNA
Ya sabes hermanito. Si bajo, estaria bien, verdad. PERO, yo dejaria de brillar. Dejaria de dar claridad a la tierra donde estas tu. Se quedaria totalmente oscuro en la noche. Estaria lleno de eclipses totals. Y si yo bajaria a la tierra, no se que seria de mi. Tal vez solo seria una roca cualquiera sembrada en la tierra.
ATMOSFERA
Eso si es cierto. Me dejarias de dar claridad en la noche, y yo estaria como ciego sin poder ver. Pero yo tambien te necesito y que estes conmigo. Yo me siento triste. Yo quiero tenerte porque te quiero. Tu eres mi hermano mayor.
LUNA
Fijate que si, quiero ir contigo, pero estoy muy lejos.
(DE REPENTE pasan otros asteroides mas, volando super recio, demasiado recio)
LUNA (espantado)
Volvieron otra vez!! Y ahora si se ve que me van a golpear!!!
(DOS ASTROIDES se chocan a lado de LUNA)
QUE PASO?!? Se chocaron dos y estan ardiendo llamas y fuego. Hay bastante humo!! Se esta contaminando todo mi aire!!!
ATMOSFERA
(viendo hacia arriba y pensando) Que esta pasando?? El cielo esta lumbrando de colores. Parece fuego. Se puede quemar mi hermano! Mi hermano! Quiero subir a ayudarle…pero….son dos fronteras para llegar donde esta el. Yo tendria que cruzar DOS fronteras. Y no conosco a nadie que me ayde para llegar donde esta el. Cruzare planetas extranas. Nubes y estrellas que no conosco. Tengo miedo. No se como seria alla arriba.
LUNA (con tos)
ATMOSFERA! ATMOSFERA! Me escuchas?? Ahora SI te necesito de veras. Por favor ayudame. Estoy quedando sin respiracion. Ya no tengo aire puro. Necesito que vengas para darme tu aire puro.
ATMOSFERA
SI me voy – pero si me contamina este aire tambien?!? Tengo miedo de dejar la tierra. Y aqui me necesitan tambien. Necesitan mi aire puro aqui tambien.
LUNA
SOCORRO! SOCORRO!
ATMOSFERA
Y nuestra madre no puede ayudarle porque ella no es aire.
LUNA
Me ahogo. Yo no puedo mas. Me estoy muriendo.
ATMOSFERA
Tendre que arriesgarme. A ver que pasa. Si me quedo a medio camino o si avanso, pero tengo que ir a darle aire. Voy a hacerle el intento.
(en voz alta) VOY, LUNA!! Te voy a ir a ayudar!!
LUNA
Mejor no. Mejor no vengas. Dejalo asi. Porque tambien te puedes contaminar tu. Dejalo mejor. Si (“if) sobrevivo o si muero, pero yo quiero que tu te salvas.
ATMOSFERA
Pero yo quiero ir a ayudarte. Yo te quiero Hermano.
LUNA
Pero no, las cosas aqui estan peor. Mejor dejalo. No vengas a ayudarme. Tambien yo te quiero Hermanito.
ATMOSFERA
Haz el esfuerzo Hermano! Muevate al otra lado del espacio donde no esta tan contaminada el aire. Tal vez asi puedes sobrevivir.
LUNA
O.K. Hare el esfuerzo de moverme, a alajarme un poco mas de ese aire contaminado, de este humo.
ATMOSFERA
HAZLO!! PERO YA!!!
(LUNA intent moverse pero no puede)
LUNA
Ya no aguanto hermanito. Mejor tu sigues adelante, dando aire a la tierra. Te cuidas.
ATMOSFERA
Disculpame hermano por no poder ir a ayudarte. Lo siento bastante.
(se pone a llorar amargamente)

THE TIME OF ASTEROIDS

Characters:
LUNA, the Moon. Male.
ATMOSFERA, the Earth’s atmosphere. His younger brother.
SETTING:
LUNA lives in space, in an empty place. He can see the stars that shine around him, and one of the stars is his mother, Ana Veli, but she is very very far away from him. LUNA lives in a silent place.
ATMOSFERA floats; during the day, during the night, and at dawn, over the woods, along the tops of the trees, over the flowers and along the river valleys. He hears the singing of the birds, of the crickets, of all the life that is around him. ATMOSFERA lives in a wonderful place.
TIME:
The moon is at half-moon. It is during the month of major asteroid activity and meteor showers.
AT RISE:
LUNA is alone.
LUNA
Oh, Man, what is this, where did this asteroids come from?!? They’re getting so close to me!! They’re going hit me!! They can crash! They can crash and break and the SMOKE from that is going to contaminate the air. And I won’t be able to breathe! This could be fatal for me!
(It becomes silent again)
Seems like they’ve gone. Man! What a relief! What a scare!!
Moments like this I want to have someone with me. Because things are getting difficult. I wish I could tell my little brother about this, but the thing is, is he’s far away. How I wish he’d be here. I need his help. I want my little brother here with me, because where I am, it is so SILENT.
(Somehow they communicate; LUNA makes a huge effort to be heard)
Hey Atmosfera!! How are you little bro??
ATMOSFERA (hears this, is very startled)
Oh! Who are you? What’s happening?
LUNA
It’s me, your big brother.
ATMOSFERA
Wow, how awesome, that you could communicate with me. I’ve been missing you. I’ve been missing you a lot. How are you?
LUNA
Look. Where I’m at, I’m going through a crisis where I am. That’s why I communicated with you. This is the month of lots of asteroids and meteor showers, and they’re everywhere, they’re all around. They are going right by me and almost hit me.
ATMOSFERA
Oh Man, why don’t you get out of there? Why don’t you come back? Come back here, where I am it’s tranquil. I don’t see those asteroids that you have up there.
LUNA
You know, little bro. If I went back, it would be nice, sure, but I would no longer GLOW. I would no longer light up the earth where you are. It would be totally in the dark at night. Full-time total eclipses. And if I descend back to earth, I don’t know what would become of me. Maybe I’d just be an ordinary rock stuck on the ground.
ATMOSFERA
Well, that’s for sure that you’d leave me in the dark at night. We’d be like the blind, not able to see. But I also need you. I feel sad without you. I love you; you’re my big brother. Why don’t you come back?
LUNA
Look, yes, I want to be with you too, but I’m far away now.
(Asteroids fly by again. They are flying very fast and terribly loud.)
Here they are again! This time I just know they are going to hit me!
(two asteroids collide right next to LUNA)
What happened?!! They collided!! It’s burning fire and flames! All this smoke!! It’s contaminating all my air.
ATMOSFERA (looking up at the sky)
WHAT’S HAPPENING?!? The sky is lit up in all these colors It looks like FIRE. My brother could burn up. My brother! I wanna go help him…but…there are two borders to get to where he is. I’d have to cross TWO borders. And I don’t know anybody who can help me get to him. I’d have to cross through unknown planets, unknown clouds, unknown stars.
I’m scared. I don’t know what it’d be like up there. And if I leave earth?
What will happen to it without me?
LUNA (coughing)
ATMOSFERA! ATMOSFERA! Can you hear me?? I really need you now. Please. Help me. I’m not getting enough to breathe. I don’t have pure air ! I need you to come and give me your pure air.
ATMOSFERA
Yes, I’ll go, but, what if I get contaminated with the bad air too? I’m scared to leave the earth. And they need me. They need my pure air here too.
LUNA
HELP!! HELP!! I’m suffocating. I can’t…I feel like I’m dying.
ATMOSFERA
(thinking) And our mother can’t help him, because she isn’t air. I’m going to have to risk this. We’ll see what happens; if I only get half-way there or if I make it, but I have to get him air; I have to try.
(to LUNA) COMING! I’m going to help you!!
LUNA
No, better not. You better not. Whatever happens to me, leave it, because you could get contaminated too. Leave it. Maybe I live or maybe I die, but I want you to survive.
ATMOSFERA
But I want to help you. I love you.
LUNA
No Man. Things here are worse. Better just leave it. I love you too little brother.
ATMOSFERA
Come on! TRY brother! Move yourself to a different side of space where the air’s not so contaminated! Maybe you can make it!
LUNA
Alright. I’ll try to move myself, to get away from this contaminated air, from this smoke.
ATMOSFERA
DO IT!!! BUT NOW!!!
(LUNA tries to move but cannot.)
LUNA
I can’t do this little brother. Better that you carry on giving air to the earth. Take care of yourself.
ATMOSFERA
Forgive me brother, for not being able to come help you.
I am so sorry. (he begins to cry.)
