AT RISE:

Lil Twist is in his room playing Twister.  Twister T. is pacing the kitchen floors, while mist is on the table.

Twister T.
Hey, Brah.
Lil Twist
What’s up, my ninja?  (Lil Twist walks into the kitchen)
Twister T.
We got a problem.  I just got off the phone.
Lil Twist
With who, brah?
Twister T.
Them cloud care ninjas.
Lil Twist
What they say?
Twister T.
They said they want to talk to moms.
Lil Twist
That ain’t no big deal, she’ll be right back anyways.
Twister T.
How do you know, brah?  She been gone for damn near six hours.  And they said they’re gonna come by the cave to check the family around 7 30.
Lil Twist
What time’s it right now?
Twister T.
6:42.
Lil Twist
Damn, my ninja, we ain’t got that long, they gonna be here in a minute!
Twister T.
You know how them clouds get down.  They’ll try to take a ninja away in a minute if our mom ain’t around.
Lil Twist
Aw, hell naw, that can’t happen.  I was doin’ good at twister ball at tornado high.  And all them twisas was on a ninja.  And they were some sexy ones too, twistin’ hella fast for me.
Twister T.
Yeah, right.  But anyways, first things first.  We can’t just keep talking back and forth, we gotta find moms.  Where we gonna look for her?
Lil Twist
I don’t know.  (Sarcastically)  Don’t you know everything else, brah?
Twister T.
Yeah, you right.  Let’s go down to the flats.
Lil Twist
Negative, I was just palyin’, my ninja.  Ain’t your ideas the ones that got you into this messed up situation that you’re in now?  That’s why you’re on mojavebation now.  You fittin’ to violate that by goin’ down to the flats.  What’s wrong with you, you don’t comprehend?
Twister T.
Come on, my young ninja, we ain’t got time for all this bickering back and forth.  We gotta either find mom or them clouds gonna find us.  Look, I don’t know about you, but I love this family, brah, and I’d die for you, my lil ninja.  But them clouds had us split up for the longest, you feel me, my ninja?  I’m not gonna let them tear this family apart again!
Lil Twist
Aight, brah, I’ve been holding a secret in for the longest:  I’m scared for you to go back to the flats.  Why out of all the places we gotta go to the flats?
Twister T.
Man, you too young to understand.  I just got a feeling that she’s on the flats.
Lil Twist
Aight, look, brah, if you’a really die for me like you say you would, then you would tell me what’s on yo mind.
Twister T.
Aight.  Earlier today I accidentally walked into the bathroom and mom was usin’ it.
Lil Twist
(Disgusted)  Ew, you didn’t close your eyes or something…?

Twister T.
(Cutting Lil Twist off)  Listen, lil brah, that’s besides the point.  Listen to what I’m fittin’ to tell you.
Lil Twist
Aight.
Twister T.
You remember how we got tooken away before by cloud care?
Lil Twist
No.
Twister T.
Yes you do.
Lil Twist
No I don’t.
Twister T.
Yes you do.
Lil Twist
I told you I don’t remember.  I was too young to remember back that far, my ninja.
Twister T.
Well, anyways, we got tooken away cuz mom was smokin’ that hard core dry air and had to rehab in that wind tunnel for a long ass time.
Lil Twist
OK, what’s that gotta do with right now, my ninja?
Twister T.
Well, when I accidentally walked into the bathroom, she nearly jumped outta her funnel, my ninja, cuz she was smokin’ that dry air.  And she tried to play it off by sayin’ it was the neighbors, but deep down in my heart I knew she was smokin’ that dry air and I was ashamed, depressed and disappointed.
Lil Twist
Damn, brah, are you serious?  How come you been haven’t told me this?
Twister T.
Cuz I didn’t want you to go confront mom about this and have her feel hella disappointed, my young ninja.
Lil Twist
So what’s gonna happen to mom?  Is she gonna die?  Is she ever gonna come back?  Are we gonna get taken away again?

Twister T.
I mean, yeah, brah, anything is possible, my ninja.  If we don’t find her before that dry air find her, then it can be a wrap.  The family can get pulled apart like Seran wrap.  Man, if we get back in the cloud care home, I’m gonna feel like the family been abandoned.  Man, you ready to sacrifice for the family, brah?
Lil Twist
I don’t know, brah, it’s dangerous and hot out there in the flatlands.  Anything can happen.  Them desert larks from mojavebation can get you for violating terms, and enemies like the hot fronts can dry you up messin’ around in the flats, you feel me, ninja?  You talk about how you’d feel ashamed and abandoned if we lose mom, but what if the family loses you to the flats or if you get sent back to the Mojave Desert?  I’d feel petrified, crushed and depressed if you got tooken away, man.  I love you like a tornado loves his spin.
Twister T.
Damn, blood, I ain’t even thought about it like that.  But I’d rather go out there and take my chances instead of we just stayin’ here and getting’ taken by those cloud care ninjas, you feel me, brah?  So is you with me or not?  Time is tickin’, it’s like 7 o’clock, brah.
Lil Twist
I feel what you sayin’, brah.  I’m just all shooked up by the situation we’re in.
Twister T.
I am too.  Shoot, Lil Twist, stop trippin’ and stimulate your mind.  Hit these cactus leaves, lil ninja.  Maybe you can make yo mind up that way.
Lil Twist
(In a slow drawl)  I don’t mess around, cousin.  Besides, I got a brain and I can make up my mind without smokin’ them cactus leaves.
Twister T.
Well, shoot, I’m fittin’ to roll these cactus leaves up and bout time I roll up, you betta have yo mind made up.
Lil Twist
Damn, blood, you smokin’ that stuff every five minutes.  It should be YOU we’re worried about, T.  And then you be out there hustlin’ on the flats everyday like it’s cool and you got it like that and I’m afraid you won’t make it back to the cave hangin’ with them hoodlums.
Twister T.
Man, I’m a grown ass twister, lil ninja.  You lil brah.  You ain’t gotta worry about me.  You just worry about not hittin’ this stuff.
Lil Twist
But you just told me to, you big ass hypocrite!
Twister T.
Man, blood, you makin’ me hella mad, blood.  Why you keep arguing about unnecessary ass stuff, blood?
Lil Twist
This IS necessary, brah.  This is your life we’re talkin’ about here, brah.  I mean I love you, you feel me?  Cold air is thicker than dry air.
Twister T.
(Sarcastically)  OK, Momma…
Lil Twist
See, you always jokin’ around!  You need to stop smokin’.  That stuff be havin’ you goofy as hell.
Twister T.
Aight, brah brahs.  Look at the time, it’s 7:08.  That means we ain’t got much time left.
Lil Twist
Aight, fine, man, cuz I love mom too.  You not the only one that love her.  I’m tryin’ to kill two birds with one stone.  If you promise me to stop smokin’ them damn cactus leaves, then I’ll go with you.
Twister T.
Man, cactus leaves ain’t even that serious.  But cuz you my young ninja, I’ll do it.
Lil Twist
So you gonna stop hustlin’ in the flats too, brah?
Twister T.
Negative.  Now you askin’ for too much.  (Gentler)  But I should be a positive role model.  Just promise me somthin’, brah.
Lil Twist
What?
Twister T.
That you’ll never roll up and smoke these cactus leaves.
Lil Twist
I promise, brah.
Twister T.
Ninjas?
Lil Twist
Ninjas.
(The two pounds fists and exit the cave to look for their mom.)
