A Play by Delma
(A Work in Progress)

Performance: March 9, 2001
Youth Guidance Center, San Francisco

Time: Midnight
At Rise: Wild Ice and Big P are at the bottom of Mountain Ice. They are standing face-to-face ready to talk. Wild Ice is upset and Big P is disappointed in herself. It is quiet and they are all alone.

Place: Mountain Ice

Big P:
I was waiting for you to come down so I could talk to you because I think we are not spending time together like we used to. I also wanted to apologize for telling other bears where was your chilling spot.

Wild Ice:
I do accept you apology, but that’s still not right for what you did. I won’t have my own space any more. Now I have to find me a new one. The bears know about it and they are going to keep coming back. Now me, my sister and brother are going to have to find a new space and it is going to feel terrible because they are used to being here only. I am going to feel very uncomfortable by moving somewhere else because this place was very relaxing, comfortable and peaceful. It was not noisy where I was at, and every otherplace it’s all noisy and crazy. There are bears fighting all the time and a lot of growling. My little sister and brother were very comfortable at the Mountain Ice. So, what’s your problem?

Big P:

I needed your attention and I wanted to talk about us and I also wanted you to come out of Mountain Ice-for you to spend some time with me, and I didn’t think it would upset you. And since you lost your spot, I am willing to help you find a new one and probably a better one for you and your family. I have everything under control.

Wild Ice:

I know you could help me find a new space, but that still wasn’t right for what you did. You should’ve come up and told me.

Big P:

I felt that you would get mad at me, and I didn’t go myself because I was shy that you would come at me wrong and say, ” get outta here,” cause that was your favorite spot.

Wild Ice:

I thought you were really my friend. Now I feel empty, now that you’ve done this. I really trusted you very much. You were like my big sister.

Big P:

I am very sorry. I did not want it to go this way. I feel ashamed for what I did. (Pause. Tears come out of her eyes when Wild Ice said that she was her big sister). Well, I never told you this, but I thought you were my little sister, but I never told you. That’s why I always treated you like one, but sometimes I felt ignored.

Wild Ice:

I didn’t think I was ignoring you. I just needed some space for me to be by myself. I never thought you would feel this way. I just needed some privacy and a place to think.

Big P:

Well, all I want is to be with you; so, how about you come to my place at Brown Mountains? You could bring your sister and brother and I’ll give you your space there and we could stay together and we could both talk if we ever have problems.

As you know, my place is kind of big. I’ll give you your own little spot and your sister and brother another little spot, and when you want I’ll take care of Ice P and Snow P whenever you want to be alone.

My family is OK with you coming over and staying with me because they know that you are the only one I trust and that you are my best friend and that you don’t have any parents.

Wild Ice:

I appreciate that you are willing to give me a place to stay and that your parents are accepting me, Snow P and Ice P into Brown Mountains. Also, thanks for trying to help me out because I really need a friend like you. I do care about you, like I said you are like a big sister to me.

Well, I think that my sister and brother would love to move in with you because they like being with you a lot. They are always asking, “where is P.P.?” that’s what they call you. And they ask for Lil Milky because they like playing with your little brother.

Big P:
So, do you forgive me for what I’ve done?

Wild Ice:
  Yes, I do.

Big P:

Well, go get your stuff and let’s get out of here, we are just wasting time standing here at Mountain Ice.

Wild Ice:

(Wild Ice makes a noise and calls for Snow P and Ice P on top of Mountain Ice)
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRh!
Kids come down!

(They all leave together, the kids riding on top of Mountain Ice and Big P.)

  The End.
