DOODIE
Ninja! You look like you just a ghost. You alright?

BOBO
(quick) Whe–, how–, what?! (looks confused) It don’t even matter –I miss my main thug. No homo (hug)   When you get out, yo? What happened? Why didn’t you tell me to come get chu? You know it ain’t safe on the buses. The catchers out to catch us!

DOODIE
You know me, man. I like the element of surprise. Where mama at? She around here?

BOBO
Uhm, Mom just went to the watering hole with (auntie?) V-Valm. You know they gonna be all day. You mean to tell me, she didn’t know you’s gonna get out?

DOODIE
Nah, I talked one of them turkeys into letting me go so I could surprise you and Mama.

BOBO
Ok. Ok. You surprised me alright. I thought these dirts I ate was messing with my mind.

DOODIE
Oh man, where these dirts at?! I ain’t ate no dirts in a long minute, y’know-I’m-in-about?

    BOBO
You know I keep the fat dirts on deck, let me fix you up a batch. I know what else you ain’t had (laughs) Jaz know you free?

DOODIE
Nope, and I ain’t plan on letting her know. I got other things on my mind.

BOBO
So you mean to tell me you ain’t –y’know-I’m-in-about – in over six months, and it ain’t on yo mind?

DOODIE
Right now my main focus is getting the cheese.

BOBO
Ok, lets–…

DOODIE
(interrupting)  And whatever it is, I got to stay out the cage. Turkeys says they see me back around that part of the jungle, they gonna send me to some other zoo, out of state, fo-sho!

BOBO
I know, I know, I know… the last thing I want is my main goon back in the cage. I don’t think mama can take you getting took’n away again. (thinks)  Say, how ‘bout we lay low for  …a good while?

DOODIE
See? You always thinking of yourself! Only reason you say that, you gotcheese stacked. School starts in 3 days. I need to get my gear back straight, and get on them 24s. Like you said, them busses ain’t safe.

BOBO
Awright, let me go grab my Daba, let’s rock.

DOODIE
Hold on Speedy Gongalez! I just said I’m not trying to go back to the cage. And I don’t want you to go either. So hold your horses and lets think this out.

BOBO
Ok, ok. So what we gonna do?

DOODIE
First things first; let’s go ask Mom and V-Valm for some cheese

BOBO
(Your?) Mom’s ain’t gonna give us nearly enough for what we want. You know V-Valm gonna claim she ain’t got no cheese.

DOODIE
Tru dat, tru dat… You don’t got no legal cheese on line?

BOBO
The job up the way-way ain’t f’ing with you ninja right now.

DOODIE
Let me hit the line and see what I can find.

BOBO
You know what… nevermind, nevermind.

DOODIE
No, say what you gonna say. I feel you been holding back all day.

BOBO
Wassup? We just need to go get these black Daba, and get this cheese. NO second guess about it. DGF, you know how we rock.

DOODIE
It’s more easy to said than done

BOBO
I know it’s easy; we been doing it to as long as I remember.

DOODIE
Check this out. You don’t know how hard it feels to be confined in a cage. Tha stuff can do something to you, change you inside. Make you never want to return.

BOBO
Seem to me it turned you in a wimp.

DOODIE
Ninja, what you talking about? I ain’t never been a wimp.

BOBO
So what they do to you in there?

DOODIE
Man, y’know-I’m-saying? Ninja it ain’t’ cool. You be in your cage 23 hours a day. The food is nasty, I could barely swallow it. The worst part about it is I ain’t getting no– y’know-I’m-talkin-about—while you in. Now that I’m out I’m not even thinking about it. You get time to sit, think about all the stupid mistakes… you got caught, almost got caught …you got to think about the things you have done, and the mistakes you have made.

BOBO
Man it can’t be that bad. You in one piece. If it don’t kill you, it make you stronger. So what’s your beef, what’s your real problem?

DOODIE
You know what? You just don’t understand. (starts to leave)

BOBO
That’s what I’m sayin! Help me understand. You’re (like?) my brother, I’m here for you.

DOODIE
That playground cage wasn’t nothing; next time they gonna send me to that big dog cage, with them big dogs.

BOBO
See, man, this time its gonna be different. We ain’t gonna get caught.

DOODIE
How can you say that? If we ever thought we were gonna get caught, we wouldn’ta done anything. Every time we did something, we thought we wasn’t go’n get caught. Sometimes we didn’t. and even when we did, we thought we wasn’t. What makes this time different.

BOBO
I got a feeling this time, that everything’s gonna be alright.

DOODIE
I don’t heard that before. Where the F—yo feelings was at when the turkeys caught us last time?

BOBO
I hear where you’re coming from, but what’ the chance of our getting caught on our first time back reunited.

DOODIE
I’m just doin this to get my school stuff, then I’m out. And we getting stable jobs.

BOBO
Ok, ok. Let’s go get these black Daba. I promise you, this time gonna be different.

(Doodie’s not sure, but goes along, as they exit)

BOBO

(Suddenly they hear something)

DOODIE
Oh –, you hear that? Listen to the sirens. Sh–

BOBO
Sh—I got a bad feeling about this

DOODIE
What the f—you mean, you gotta a bad feeling? A few minutes ago you was saying you had a good feeling. You so stupid!

BOBO
Man, what can I say? I thought everything was gonna be alright. We can talk about this later. Run!
