LIL ANT THE ANT
Big brother wake up. It’s time to go get something to eat. I’m hungry!
ANTI THE ANT
What time is it? Why it seem so early?
LIL ANT THE ANT
It’s the same time I wake you up every day.
ANTI THE ANT
Lil brother I love you and I would do anything for you, but I am gettin tired of being a father to you. I’m gettin tired of doing all these things for you. Supplyin you with food and taken you to the hospital when you get hurt. Wakin up early to take you out to breakfast. Being scared that something’s gonna happen to you. Today is the day that where I wont do nothin for no one but myself. I’m not watchin over you. I’m not takin care of you, gettin food for you. You gonna have to grow up
LIL ANT THE ANT
Big brother. Did you eat that plant that make you wierd! Cuz you never said things to hurt my feelings you never said things that was harsh to me. You are a liar. You said you would always have taken care of me when I needed you.
ANTI THE ANT
I’m not a liar! I have taken care of you and did things for you. I just come to the point where I don’t wonna have to stress over you and watch over you because your old enough now.
LIL ANT THE ANT
I’m not old enough to do things on my own. I don’t know how to take care of myself that’s why I want someone to take the place of mom and dad so they can help me survive in life and give me the love I need to stay strong. And once I find someone to take the place of mom and dad, (hurt and angry) I would never ask you to do anything for me again.
ANTI THE ANT
I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings or say anything in a wrong way. I have just got tired of doing things that I really don’t wonna do. And that is takin time outa me comin up with ideas and new things that can help me achieve my wish. Lil brother I promise you if I achieve my wish the life we live will be much better for us and the generation. And if I don’t achieve my wish I will feel like a failure of life.
LIL ANT THE ANT
What do you have in mind? What is your wish? What do you plan on doing and how is it gonna make our lives better huh? (Upset and angry) Oh I get it. Your wish is more important than takin care of me and watchin over me. So you prefer to put some ol stupid foolish thing in front of your brother, the only family you have?
ANTI THE ANT
I would never put nothin before you and that’s exactly why I took care of you ever since mom and dad were gone. When they left I always wanted to do something to help the other ant families so that they wouldn’t have to experience their mom and dad get stepped on by humans or eaten by ant eaters. And the thing that I have in mind is not stupid or foolish. It’s gonna change our lives forever, and that’s why I come to this point where I’m gonna do something about it that will change our lives forever.
LIL ANT THE ANT
Brother do you know how stupid you sound?! You, out of all the ants around, are gonna change our lives forever? If you said that to someone they would laugh at you. Okay brother since you have such a great idea tell me, what do you plan on doing?
ANTI THE ANT
Well, I plan on doing things that can possibly make us get bigger and if I succeed I will help all the other ants succeed in doing that. And then all the ants will live their lives better.
LIL ANT THE ANT
Big brother everything you just said sounds good and if you can really do that you would make the lives of ants better. Can I help you achieve your wish? Then can you help me achieve my wish?
ANTI THE ANT
Hmmm. I never thought of nothin like that. You know what lil brother, I think that may be a great idea. If I let you help me with my wish you have to promise that you wont do things to mess it up. And you also have to promise that you’ll take care of yourself.
LIL ANT THE ANTI THE ANT
I promise that if you let me help you, I will take care of myself and don’t do nothing to mess your wish up!!! I have a question, do you think you can help me with my wish too. I really do want someone to take the place of mom and dad. I need that love that mom and dad would have given us. Every time I think about the thing that mom and dad would do for me it makes me strong! And every time I think about if they were here really doing those things it would make me stronger!!!
ANTI THE ANT
Lil brother I understand how you feel about what happened to mom and dad, and I’m sorry that that had to happen. But you and I are gonna have to move on with our lives. We cannot let what happened to mom and dad ruin our lives. If mom and dad were still here they would have told us to stay strong, and move on with our lives. But what I have in mind will help the other families, so they wont have to go through what we went through. But now it’s time to figure out how are we gonna help ourselves, and others get bigger, do you have any ideas?
LIL ANT THE ANT
I think that if we keep on eating we will get bigger.
ANTI THE ANT
We always eat but we remain the same size. If you are gonna help me you are gonna have to use your head a little bit better than that. (Passionate) Don’t just say things, (pause) you have to think about things that we normally don’t do. The whole point is that we have to come up and do things that no one has ever done or ever thought of doing.
LIL ANT THE ANT
Okay I see where you’re goin’ with this. You want me to think about things that no one would’ve ever thought about doing in life
ANTI THE ANT
Yes little brother (passionate) Yes! That’s exactly what I mean.
LIL ANT THE ANT
What if we push our bodies up and down and kept on doing it until our arms felt like they were gonna fall off? Would that make us bigger? What if we just run around all day. Would that make us bigger? What if we put things on our back. We will look bigger and nobody would know that we our so small. I think that we should try those great ideas that we just thought of.
ANTI THE ANT
The things you just said, they were good but that’s not the type of help I need. You’re thinkin’ of things that will make us smaller like running around. Thank you for trying to help but your help is not doing nothing but takin’ more time outta what I’m tryin’ to achieve. (passionate) The things you say will not ever help me!! (pause). Now I’m gonna ask you to leave and go somewhere while I do things to achieve my wish.
LIL ANT THE ANT
So are you saying that you don’t want my help no more? The things I say are not good enough for you? I thought the things I said were great ideas but I guess you think different. (passionate) Maybe I should help you. Maybe I don’t got the mind to think the way you’re thinkin. Maybe that’s what it is. Okay I don’t think of things that you would think of so I’ll just leave.
(LIL ANT THE ANT walks like he’s leaving and going somewhere else with a sad face)
LIL ANT THE ANT (Continued)
(excited) Wait I got a great idea. I know excactly what we could do. We could eat a black seed that comes from them big ol’ bald things with the green on the outside and the red on the inside.
ANTI THE ANT
What big ol’ green things with the red in the inside and black seeds also in the inside?
LIL ANT THE ANT
It’s the things that humans eat
ANTI THE ANT
Do you mean a wobble mellon? A wata dellon? That big ol’ sticky juicy thing?
LIL ANT THE ANT
(excited) Yes that!!!! that’s what I’m talkin about. If we can eat the seed it will grow and I know that because one day when you were taking me for lunch I seen a black seed placed under the dirt where we were walking and it had strings that were growing and make the seed get bigger. So if we eat one, I think we will get bigger because it’s inside of us.
ANTI THE ANT
That’s the smartest thing you said. Now you saying things that I needed you to say. So let’s go looking for seeds.
(Now they’re searching for seeds)
LIL ANT THE ANT
I’m getting tired now. We’ve been walkin for 3 hours
ANTI THE ANT
I’m gettin tired too. Let’s go back home.
( Turn back around and start going back)
LIL ANT THE ANT
(Excited) Wait a minute. Do you see that? Right there. Right in front of us on the left side?
ANTI THE ANT
See what?
LIL ANT THE ANT
Come on let’s go I’ll show you!!
( Big brother walks to where Lil brother is going)
ANTI THE ANT
We found it! We found what we were lookin’ for! And there’s plenty of ’em!
LIL ANT THE ANT
How many should we eat?
ANTI THE ANT
(Excitingly says) Let’s just eat one for now and carry the rest on our backs
LIL ANT THE ANT
Okay
(They both eat one)
LIL ANT THE ANT
(Continued) How long do you think it’s gonna take us to grow? If it makes us grow?
ANTI THE ANT
I don’t know but we will find out
LIL ANT THE ANT
(Low voice) I feel wierd. I don’t feel the same. It’s like my body is changing
ANTI THE ANT
You alright, there’s nothing wrong with you
(Lil Ant the Ant all of a sudden get’s bigger than a football)
ANTI THE ANT (Continued)
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!! You are humungus. You are bigger than what I wanted to get
(While he’s speaking he also gets bigger)
LIL ANT THE ANT
(excited) Now we’re both big!!! You have achieved your wish. I bet you are very happy.
ANTI THE ANT
I haven’t achieved my wish yet but I do have what I need to have to achieve my wish.
LIL ANT THE ANT
What else do you need to do?
ANTI THE ANT
I need to help others
LIL ANT THE ANT
Well let’s go do that then. Let’s go tell the generation what they can do to get big. I bet they probably run from us ’cause of how big we are.
(They arrive back to their homes)
LIL ANT THE ANT
Who do you wonna tel first now that we’re here?
ANTI THE ANT
We’re gonna tell anyone that we see
(As soon as they say that 5 ants walk by and notice that there were a lot of seeds on the floor for other ants to get. The ants ants eat them)
LIL ANT THE ANT
They eatin’ them. How do you think they gonna feel when they get bigger?
ANTI THE ANT
I don’t know. I think they gonna feel happy and excited.
(After 5 ants eat the seeds 2 of them died because they got too big but ants still continued to eat ’em and more ants died)
ANTI THE ANT
Ants are dyin’ and now I’m feelin’ bad ’cause it’s all my fault. No it can’t be my fault. They seen it and ate it. I still did my job by helping all the ants get bigger. At least the ones that survive get bigger. Lil brother I just want to thank you for helping me when you didn’t have to and when I said things that were mean you still helped me. But I;m happy you’re kinda happy, but I wonna make you as happy as me. And I know exactly how I can do that. I’m gonna help you find someone to take the place of mom and I’m gonna take the place of dad because no one could tell you things like I could, that dad would.
