gate in the way of them getting out.
TIME: It is four in the morning when every-car is asleep.
AT RISE: Lil-boxer and Lobo are at the back of The Big Towing Service
Building. They have been talking about their dreams for a longtime now.
LIL-BOXER
Man, first thing first, we gotta get outta here!
LOBO
How are we going to leave, if we’re not on the same page as each other?
LIL-BOXER
What do you mean? You’re going to do what I told you to do, right?
LOBO
What is that?
LIL-BOXER
You’re going to charge my battery, right? An’ you’re going to the race, right?
LOBO
Nah, I didn’t agree to that! I’m telling you that you might get hurt. I don’t want you to get hurt! You’re still young and I’m not going to give you a
battery charge. You’re going to kill my gas.
.
LIL-BOXER
Who are you to tell me what to do? You sure didn’t care when you came in and out of my life. So, why do you care so much now? I’m gonna go point blank. If I don’t go then you won’t go to your car show.
LOBO
I’m going to put it like this: I’m your dad. I say what goes. So come on an’ give me gas. Your head is too big right now!
LIL-BOXER
You must be getting me mess up with one of your friends. You don’t run anything but that big mouth of yours. Always wanna show off!
LOBO
There you go, talking your mouth off just like your mom used to do. Man, you must get that from her. Look son, I’m your dad, respect that! I’m sick of hearing all these lady feelings. That why I like your brother, City, more. I don’t ever hear him mouth off about anything.
LIL-BOXER
How can you say that? Mom is dead. An’ all you have to say about her is her mouth? How low can you get? You like my brother so much because he jumps when you want him to jump. You’re mad because I don’t do that.
LOBO
Well, it’s true. You want me to give you how I feel. Don’t ask me if you aren’t ready for it.
LIL-BOXER
You know what? Thank you for telling me that. You really don’t care about me. I knew that the whole time. Yeah, you may be my dad but I rather not have a dad.
LOBO
Well, you have one. So deal with it! I’m tired of hearing these lady feelings.
LIL-BOXER
Well, we can deal with these feelings later. Right now, we have a problem. We need to get out of here! So what we going to do? You have all the
answers.
.
LOBO
I know how we are going to get out. Me an’ some other cars made a hole in the gate. I have City covering it.
LIL-BOXER
That take care of that plan. So how we going to take care or our problem?
LOBO
Look, son, I really don’t want you to go to the car race but you’re old enough to make your own decisions. I care about you boy.
LIL-BOXER
Okay, thank you, dad. But we gotta get going! We don’t have time to sit here anymore. The car race starts in an hour. If I don’t make it there I will lose the race, the money, and my respect.
LOBO
Okay, so we agreed upon I’m gonna charge your battery and you gonna give me gas?
LIL-BOXER
Yes! But don’t worry about running out of gas to get to the car show. I will try to get you more gas.
LOBO
If I don’t get enough gas to get to the car show, I’ll lose my respect. I’ll just be someone that doesn’t win anything.
LIL-BOXER
Okay, so this is how we should do it. You run with me down to the car race. I’ll race and then I’ll ask my friends to get us more gas.
LOBO
What if I don’t have enough gas to get there?
LIL-BOXER
Don’t worry, it’s just down the street. Try to get every inch out of your gas.
LOBO
Okay, I’ll charge your battery. (Lil-boxer starts turning over his engine.)
LIL-BOXER
ERRRRRCH! ERRRRRCH! ERRRRRCH! (Then) BVROOOOHM! OHM! OHM! OHM!MMMMM!
LOBO
Hurry up! Hurry up! I’m running out of gas. (Lil-boxer gives Lobo gas through a hose connected to both their gas tanks.)
LOBO
Alright, City. Now you move! City moves away from the hole in the black gate. Lil-boxer goes racing out.
LIL-BOXER
C’mon, Lobo! (Lobo comes racing out through the black gate.)
LOBO
Slow down, Lil-boxer! (Lil-boxer slows down)
LIL-BOXER
Hurry up! Hurry up! I only got twenty minutes left.
LOBO
Alright! Alright!
They are nearly at the race track. (Lobo the Black Van starts jerking.)
LOBO
I’m running out o’ gas! I’m running out o’ gas!
.
LIL-BOXER
We’re almost there!
(Lobo starts shuddering)
LOBO
BRRR! BRRR! BRRR! BD! BD! BD! BHM! I ran out o’ gas!
LIL-BOXER
I don’t wanna feel like I let you down, like I didn’t keep up my part of the deal. But I’ll come back after the race.
LOBO
Oh, man. What if I get caught up?
LIL-BOXER
I can’t deal with that right now. I gotta get to the race!
LOBO
What the heck! There you go caring about yourself!
LIL-BOXER
Well, I’m sorry! I’ve gotta do this. This is how it feels when you leave me for your friends!
(Lil-boxer, just drives off.)
