COURAGE
Bold! You did a good job hunting 2 day.

BOLD
(he looks at courage for a sec)  (depressed tone)   Thank you!

COURAGE
What’s wrong? You don’t look too happy 2 day.  What’s on your mind?

BOLD
I was just thinking today how I always do the hunting.

COURAGE
Well the reason why you do the hunting is because you have the eyesight to spot things.

BOLD
Well I don’t think it’s fair that I have to do the hunting just because of that.

COURAGE
So what are you saying?

BOLD
I’m saying that I don’t want to do the hunting anymore.

COURAGE
(looks around) Well do you not remember how we met and the deal that we had?

BOLD
How could I forget?  You saved my life.

COURAGE
And do you remember when I said that you can come live with me but you had to do the hunting?

BOLD
Yeah  I do but I didn’t think it had to last for 10 years.  I still think you
should do the hunting because you’re the lion.

COURAGE
What is wrong with you? Have you lost your mind?

BOLD
No It’s just I met this other eagle we have a lot in common-

COURAGE
(cuts him off)  Another eagle.  (laughs) I think you’ve lost your mind because you’re the only eagle around.

BOLD
(offended) Well you wouldn’t know that now would you because you just stay in the cave and wait  until I bring back food.

COURAGE
(shocked look on his face. No response)

BOLD
Cat got your tongue?

COURAGE
(offended) How dare you talk to me like that! What’s gotten into you?

BOLD
Well when I told you about the other eagle you just laughed.  You tried to make me sound like I was delusional.

COURAGE
I wasn’t trying to make it LOOK like you were delusional. I was trying to SAY you WERE.

BOLD
(flattering) What I was trying to say was that your bigger, stronger.  You have pearly white teeth, and you would be able to bring more food in then I could, and I’m a little bird who can’t bring that much food for a lion but I could bring in enough food for another eagle and eagle family.

COURAGE
(flattered, he flashes his teeth)  Thank you for the compliment and what you said really DIDN’T touch me inside. (touches where his heart is)

BOLD
I want to start a family with this eagle.

COURAGE
So this is what this whole thing is about you wanting to start a family.

BOLD
(pauses looks at courage for a split second) Yeah!

COURAGE
WON’T Happen!

BOLD
Please you don’t understand.

COURAGE
Oh I understand very well.  You’re trying to leave me behind and I’ll have to do my own hunting and break the pact we had.

BOLD
No that’s not it I just want to start a family.

COURAGE
NO! We can do this the hard way.  I can kill you if you try to leave or we can drop this conversation and never bring it up again.

BOLD
Now that you gave your options here are mine.  We can do this 2 ways. 1st way is I can leave and we still can maintain a close friendship.  2nd way is I leave and never see or talk 2 you again.

COURAGE
Well if those are my only options I choose option one.

BOLD
I knew you would choose the most important one to you, which would be friendship.  I’m glad you picked the right one.

COURAGE
You may not do the hunting any more but you are always welcome here.

(they walk off stage together)
