Characttersttom of the Seaers:

Rosey the black rose, female, 17

Bravo the lion, male, 26

Setting:

in a huge dry field where the sun hits the most. There is 3 inch dry grass mixed with dirt and wheat. The sound of the crispy wind passing by.

Time:

10am , on a sunny day.

At Rise:

Rosey is in her same spot she always is waiting for Bravo her uncle.

Rosey:

Man, I’ve been waiting for my uncle since 8:00 this morning. It’s been 2 hours since he was suppose to be here. He should be here any minute. Ooh there he goes. Hey Bravo How you doing today?

Bravo:

I’m doing okay Rosey, how’s your morning, sweetie?

Rosey:

It’s going good, but where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you since 8:00.

Bravo:

I’m sorry Rosey. I was out snooping around a couple miles away off the road.

Rosey:

What were you looking at?

Bravo:

Oh, I was just snooping around being nosey, looking at the things near us. You know there is no near road in sight unless you go 2 miles out.

Rosey:

Did you see anything interesting near by?

Bravo:

Oh, nothing major just a couple of shops, some gas stations.

Rosey:

Oh, that’s nice.

Bravo:

Yeah, you know what caught my eye though?

Rosey:

What’s that?

Bravo:

I seen a garden that had a lot of nice flowers and there were gardeners that were nursing the plants.

Rosey:

A garden??

Bravo:

Yeah a garden  it was beautiful.

Rosey:

I wish I can see it. Maybe there’s some nice flowers I can make friends with over there.

Bravo:

Maybe, hey Rosey can I ask you something?

Rosey:

Ask ahead uncle.

Bravo:

Have you ever thought about leaving this place?

Rosey:

What do you mean?

Bravo:

This field, It’s so huge and dry and it only gets moist at night.

Rosey:

Bravo, I’ve been thinking of leaving this place every second of the day since I was 12.

Bravo:

Then why haven’t you left baby girl?

Rosey:

Oh yeah, let me just get up and float to that garden you were talking about.

Bravo:

Roseeyyy.

Rosey:

What. You know I can’t just get up and walk. I’m stuck in dirt for crying out loud. What do you expect Bravo.

Bravo:

You can ask me to do the favor for you honey, you know I’ll do anything for you.

Rosey:

Would you really do something like that for me?

Bravo:

Of course I will.

Rosey:

But then I wouldn’t be able to see you Bravo.

Bravo:

I can always visit you and see how things are going. Plus aren’t you tired of being alone and scared of the animals out here.

Rosey:

Yeah I get bored and I’m scared of the animals, but when you’re here it makes my day and I love spending time with you. But I wouldn’t mind a new home and making new friends and visits from you.

Bravo:

I would love to take you but I have to chill for a bit. You know I have arthritis and I’m getting too old for everything.

Rosey:

Whenever you’re ready uncle.

Bravo:

Oh yeah Rosey I been meaning to tell you that I seen a poster that said that this field has recently  been bought and there’s going to be construction tomorrow.

Rosey:

Tomorrow???? Weren’t you out yesterday when you went to look around?

Bravo:

Yes, why?

Rosey:

Than that means the construction is supposed to start today!

Bravo:

Oh my goodness. Let me go get my stuff and then I’ll come back to get you. They aren’t coming until noon so it’s fine.

Rosey:

Well hurry in case they bring their equipment earlier than noon.

Bravo:

It’s okay sweetie. I’ll try to be quick but when I come back I need to tell you something because I might not visit you for the beginning of your stay in the garden.

Rosey:

What do you mean you won’t visit me for the beginning.

Bravo:

I’m going to go travelling because it’s always been my dream to travel. Plus I want to travel before my arthritis gets too bad for me to even walk.

Rosey:

Okay go quick and come back fast, please, in case they come early.

Bravo:

Okay sweetie it’s fine, and don’t worry I’ll be back as soon as I gather all my things.

Rosey:

Okay uncle go quick…Wait, wait. Do you hear that?

Bravo:

Hear what?

Rosey:

Oh no I mean, do you feel that?

Bravo:

Feel what?

Rosey:

It feels like an earthquake or something.

Bravo:

I don’t feel anything.

Rosey:

Hey, look over there. There’s bulldozers coming our way.

Bravo:

What the, you’re right.

Rosey:

Hurry, dig me out. Let’s go before they take me down.

Bravo:

Okay let me go get my stuff.

Rosey:

No! We don’t have time for that.

Bravo:

But…

Rosey:

But nothing, dig me out now!!

Bravo:

Okay but before I do I need to tell you something.

Rosey:

Can’t it wait?

Bravo:

No, it can’t. I need to get this off my chest.

Rosey:

Okay, quick, spit it out, they’re coming.

Bravo:

Okay, remember when you were one and your parents died

Rosey:

Yeah.

Bravo:

And remember how you were asleep when it all happened

Rosey:

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Bravo:

It was me

Rosey:

What do you mean Bravo?

Bravo:

It was me who killed your parents

Rosey:

That can’t be true

Bravo:

It is Rosey, why would I be telling you if it weren’t true

Rosey:

Are you serious…

Bravo:

Yes, now let’s get you out before they reach us

Rosey:

No!! Don’t touch me

Bravo:

What do you mean, we have to go

Rosey:

No, how did it happen? Why did you do it? Why are you barely telling me this?

Bravo:

There’s no time to explain. I can tell you later. Let me get you out

Rosey:

No! Don’t touch me, tell me how it happened

Bravo:

Rosey there’s no time

Rosey:

I’m not going nowhere until I find out what happened to my parents

Bravo:

Okay Rosey I’ll tell you. I came home to my family not being there and I was worried so I went out to look for them. I went out and I found them dead. Something gave me a hint that your parents had something to do with it and I was going through a ruthless stage and killed them with no questions asked. I later found out that they had nothing to do with it. That’s why I took you under my wing.

Rosey:

I can’t believe you

Bravo:

That’s why I do the things I do for you. That’s why I take care of you. That’s why I’m still here for you, because I’m sorry and I made a huge mistake. I realized what I’ve done was wrong and I’m trying to redeem myself by making it up to you.

(Rosey stays silent)

Bravo (cont):

I’ma dig you out sweetie, we have to go

Rosey:

Don’t touch me. NO. Don’t touch me

Bravo:

But we have to go Rosey

Rosey:

No. Don’t touch me or I’ll prick you with my thorns. Don’t touch me

Bravo:

We have to go!

(Bravo then digs around Rosey to get her out)

Rosey:

NOOOO, NO. Don’t touch me Bravo. I hate you!

Bravo:

Calm down Rosey I’m trying to help you

Rosey:

I don’t want your help! You’re a liar!

(Bravo digs her out and they are now on their way away from the bulldozers)

Bravo:

Are you okay?

Rosey:

Yeah I’m okay

Bravo:

I’m sorry. Are we straight though?

Rosey:

It’s…whatever…

Bravo:

You know if you need someone I will always be there for you

Rosey:

Yeah, whatever…

THE END
